Leftovers

Leftovers
Julie Sheppard

You know what leftovers are. When you have finished your meal and still have food, you do not just throw it out but put into containers to eat later.
Remember the story when Jesus fed the people with five loaves of bread and two fish (Matthew 14:13-21) Not only did He feed five thousand with this little meal, there was leftovers.
So God met the needs of these people to a point that when they were filled, there was plenty of food left over. I see these leftovers as food to be shared with others. Every time we hear the Word of God we are being fed spiritually. (Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4)He meets all of our physical and spiritual needs abundantly. So do we keep it all for ourselves or do we share this abundance with others? Every day we come across someone who has a spiritual and physical need. Let us share with them the blessings of God. Then as God blesses them, they will then have more than enough to share with others as well. Even if all you have is a kind or encouraging word, doing this lets that person know that they matter!
