It has been a few days since I posted “Hostile Territory”
Well today in the mail came the current issue of Time magazine and the cover definitely caught my attention. As I have written before I do not believe in coincidences. So seeing what was clearly written on the cover of a very popular magazine and how it lined up with the title of my blog post I could not help but share it with you.
Here is a secular magazine talking about the hate being spread through the Internet. The author of this article Joel Stein, the article is titled TYRANNY OF THE MOB Trolls are turning the web into a cesspool of aggression and violence. what watching them is doing to the rest of us may be even more harmful. In this 6 page article I am reminded of how God revealed to me how hostile the web is. (I know I don’t need to say this but I am talking about the Internet and not a spiders web although both seem to catch their own victims.) I do not want to plagiarize his article so I hope that you will pick up a copy and read the article for yourself.
It is heartbreaking that there is so much hate in the world for both believers and nonbelievers. I could ask how did this happen but that would be pointless. We live in a sin filled world and even the the strongest believer has their weakness and stumbles and falls from time to time. None of us are perfect or without sin. Neither is one person better than an another. Yet this does not excuse us for being blatantly hateful to anyone. We live in a world filled with hate but for those who have received Jesus as their Savior they have also received His love. We are to be imitators of Chris and not the world.
Romans 12:1-3. 1 Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. 3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you.…
1 Thessalonians 1:6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord when you welcomed the message with the joy of the Holy Spirit, in spite of your great suffering.
The greatest weapon we have is the Love of Jesus given to us so we can share with everyone, not just the people we like or do what we want them to, but loving them as Jesus loves us.
May God bless you and fill you with His love to overflowing.
