On yesterday, we lit the pink candle of joy for Advent. Joy after years of waiting, and waiting, and waiting…expecting, expecting, expecting the manifestation of God’s promise. A promise that goes all the way back to the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3) and repeated time and time again by God Himself throughout Scripture. The promise of the Messiah.
The first two weeks of Advent is symbolic of the hope of this Messiah and the peace with God and of God that is yet needed for this Messiah not come. It has been 400 hundred years since the Lord there has been any inspired prophecy from God to the Jews. The last prophecy was given at the close of the Old Testament when He had given this warning to the prophet, Malachi, “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord
