ESV and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
KJV and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us
TLB and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.
GWT Forgive us as we forgive others.
Call to repentance, asking for forgiveness and forgiving others is a included in the teaching gave us on prayer. Debts, sins, trespasses are synonymous. Acknowledging the wrongs we have done, repenting and forgiving the wrongs done to us by others. Just as God provides for our daily needs forgiveness is a daily thing for us to do. When Jesus was asked how many times awe should give His response was seven times seventy. He also told us if we are hit on one cheek to offer up the other one. Forgiveness is not easy but is necessary. The price Jesus paid for our forgiveness was with His own life. We should be thankful we don’t have to die to forgive because He has already done this, and thankfully He rose from the grave giving to us the keys to life. I am thankful that we are forgiven.
Matthew 6:5-6 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Isaiah 26:26 Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the fury has passed by.
I have written about the need of going to the alter of prayer and the need of praying with others. There is also a time to go to your secret place to pray. For some they have a room or closet in their home. I have known some they cover their heads with scarves, because they did not have a place in their homes to get a way from the others they lived with. Others get out in nature, a personal favorite for myself. No matter where this special place is for you to get alone with God, it is important that you find it and spend time with Him there. I have a problem sleeping so I spend a lot of time outside of my home talking with God. Looking up into the sky looking at the stars and the moon. I feel a special closeness to God during these times. Our prayers don’t have to be long and we don’t need to be loud. We don’t need to be seen, we just need to talk to Him, and spend that one on one time with Him.
When the disciples had asked Jesus how to pray, one of the things He included was asking the Father for our daily bread. This bread is not bread alone but our daily needs. Food, clothing, shelter, etc… Unfortunately in this world there are many who go hungry, who have no place to call home, and lack so many needs. Then there are those who have everything in this world that they need but are starving spiritually and do not even know this.
Jesus said when tempted after fasting for forty days, that man does not live on bread alone but by every Word of God. Jesus is also known as the Bread of Life, and the Word of God.
Our Heavenly Father, cares and provides for both our physical and spiritual needs. I thank God for all of His provisions. He is my shelter, my shield and strong tower. He is more than God to me, but my Abba Father, my Daddy. He never leaves me or turns me away. He is patient with me and is patient when I am frustrated and impatient. His love is the love that I need, and He loves me without limits. I thank Him for this love. A love that I do not deserve but receive with a grateful heart. I thank Him For Jesus, the Bread of Life.
Matthew 6:9-13 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.
Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”
In the world today the subject of peace seems to be a foreign concept, that people cry out for, but fight against. Riots and violent protests, are happening so frequently, and at the same time these protests seem to be anything closely related to peaceful. I live in a rural community and protests even made it to a local town square. A group of bikers, stood guard and kept violence from breaking out, without interfering with the protests. A local church even prayed with some of the protestors. A small business was even threatened by ANTIFA. Thankfully do to community protection no harm came to the business owner. Who had been confused why she had been targeted. You will hear at some of these protests people yelling, ‘No justice, no peace’. Our land is filled with hatred and violence. Too many seem to care only for themselves, and do not care if anyone gets hurt. They make demands, but give nothing in return. It is like our nation is being held hostage by fear and hate. Peace seems to not exist here.
Psalm 35:20 For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.
Jeremiah 8:11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Romans 3:17 And the path of peace they have not known.”
Only in Christ Jesus will we find true peace. The Ho;y Spirit is our Comforter and our Helper. We need to repent and return to God as a nation, so that He can heal and bring peace to this land and its people. Let us pray together for the Peace of our Lord Jesus to flow through out our nation.
John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 4:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Let the love and peace of God flow freely from us all.
Many times in the past has my body been laid up because of injury. I finally learned that just because I could not move and do normal daily activities, there was one thing I could still do, and that was pray. It may seem like it is not much, especially to someone who has little to nothing that they can do. Think about the parable of the widow and the two mites.
Luke 21:1-4 And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, 2 and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites.3 So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; 4 for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”
There were those who judged her, but Jesus sees that she has given all she had. Prayer is important, and right now I have been reminded that my body has it’s current limitations, and I am not able to to the simplest chores and even having difficulty feeding myself, but I can pray. I am not to think less of myself because I cannot labor in the physical, but in the spirit I can do all. Praying not just for my own needs, but for others through out the world and all of the needs of the people in this world.
Now for those who can do more than pray, I pray that you do all that you can, but please do not look down on those who have only prayer to give.
Prayer is not just a time to make requests from God. It is also a time to make a stand against the enemy. To say enough is enough, the enemy can’t take anymore from you, your loved ones etc… Stand in the gap when no one else will. Asking God to send us His warring angels to fight for us, and with us. Taking back what has been stolen, fighting for those who are unable to fight for themselves. It is time to wage some war.
Ezekiel 22:29-30 The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery. They have oppressed the poor and needy and have exploited the foreign resident without justice. 30I searched for a man among them to repair the wall and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, so that I should not destroy it. But I found no one.
Isaiah 59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
Ezekiel 13:5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.
Jeremiah 29:7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have
Numbers 12:13 Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, heal her, I pray!”
Luke 22:32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”
Numbers 20:15-16 how our fathers went down to Egypt, where we lived many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers, 16and when we cried out to the LORD, He heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Now look, we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your territory.
Acts 12:4-7 When he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out before the people. 5So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God.
One thing that has broken my heart many times is while serving on my church’s prayer team, when it came time for prayer our alter would be empty except for our prayer team. This actually did not start as my own heart break but God’s. While standing at the alter waiting to pray with anyone who wanted to pray with another. We stood there through a couple of songs, and no one came. This grief came over me, and I heard Him say, ‘They don’t realize that you all need prayer, and that I Am waiting for you all to come to me. My alter is empty and yet there are so many in need. They let pride and fear keep them from coming to my throne, afraid to look needy, or weak. Thinking they are fine without My help. Forgetting about there loved ones, neighbors, coworkers, friends, and even their enemies. They are missing out on so much. There is nor request, no need, or anything that is to big or small for Me. Bring me all of your cares and burdens, and i will take care of you.’ I stood there looking out at the congregations and wondered how they could not hear what I was hearing. We closed the service in prayer, and the feeling of the need for prayer never left me. So as I continue writing and sharing other bloggers posts on prayer I hope prayer becomes more contagious than the virus epidemic the world is currently dealing with. So let us pray together for each other until this earth is covered in prayer and every need has been brought to His throne.
Hebrew 4:15-16…(15)For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin. (16)Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
God bless, prosper and protect you and your loved ones, in Jesus Name!
P.S. If your church has a time for prayer/alter call, please don’t let anything keep you from making it to that alter and lift up your needs and the needs of the others in your life. He is waiting to see you there.
We can lie to others and we can lie to ourselves. The only One it is pointless to lie to is God. Honesty should always be the best policy, honesty and prayer is a necessity. If we are not honest during our prayer time we are wasting our breath. God our Father already knows what is in our hearts, and even what we are thinking. So speak truthfully to Him. Jesus is the Truth. The Belt Of Truth is part of His Holy Armor, that we are to put on daily.
1 Chronicles 28:9 “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.
John 8:31-32 The Truth will Set You Free 31So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Proverbs 12:22 “Lying lips are an abomination to YAHveh (the LORD), but those who deal faithfully are His delight” .
Proverbs 30:8-9 “Keep deception and lies far from me”
Psalm 34:12-13 NIV “Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies”
So pray with an honest tongue, even if what you have to say is not pleasant or you may feel ashamed, He already knows the truth. Bare it all to Him. He will not reject you or turn away from you. He is love and His love forgives a multitude of sins. Remember when Jesus was asked to teach His disciples to pray, in this prayer He said ‘Forgive us of our sins’. Repentance is definitely being honest. How ever there are so many other things we may be trying to hide. Feeling weak, being angry, and feelings of guilt are a few things we may try to pretend that we are not.
I often have to tell God about my anger. I am grateful that He has taught me not to react in anger. Yet there are many times that the anger can overwhelm me. So this is me being honest about one of my weaknesses. So what do you need to be honest with Him about, that you have been struggling with.
Focus is one of my weaknesses. My mind can wander so easily. I even find this during my Bible study researching. While looking up scriptures for one subject, I read scriptures that lead me to to other subjects. This has made preparations for teachings a struggle at times. Yet because the Word is filled with so much knowledge it is understandable that my thoughts can wander from one subject to the next. Yet I work through it and manage to get my focus back on topic and finish the lesson.
It is in the other areas of my life where my focus wanders that getting back on track. It even happens during my prayer times where staying focused is important. There are many needs to be prayed for from personal to global needs. Scriptures speak of meditating on His Word. Keeping focused on what God has spoken. Not just hearing but listening carefully.
Definition of focus
FOCUS 1a : a center of activity, attraction, or attention the focus of the meeting was drug abuse put immigration into focus as a hot topic for commentators b : a point of concentration 2 : directed attention : emphasis The focus is on helping the homeless. 3a : direction sense 6c the team lost focus b : a state or condition permitting clear perception or understanding tried to bring the issues into focus c : adjustment for distinct vision also : the area that may be seen distinctly or resolved into a clear image
Proverbs 4:25Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you.
One thing that the prayer boards I have made for myself and others has helped me to stay focused in my prayer time. Yet it is not the only way to focus. Keeping distractions from getting you off track is not always an easy thing to do. Horses wear blinders to keep them from being distracted during a race. Well we are in a race so to speak.
CORINTHIANS 9:23-2523 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings. 24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to take the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games trains with strict discipline. They do it for a crown that is perishable, but we do it for a crown that is imperishable.…
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us.

Psalm 119:15-16 I will meditate on Your precepts And regard Your ways. I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word.
Psalm 63:6 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches,
Psalm 119:148 My eyes anticipate the night watches, That I may meditate on Your word.
Let us continue in prayer together, and to intercede for others, for loved ones, coworkers, communities, ministries, organizations, nations, and leaders to name a few things we pray for. Keeping focus on His Love, peace and directions, and for His will to be done.
How do you keep focused?
What scriptures help you?
What ministries do you support?
What do you need prayers for?
Please leave your answers in the comments, and let us continue to pray together and for each other.
There is a subject that has been weighing heavy on my heart. With the current events, and all the protests, with people demanding their rights, I see this behavior has made its’ way into some of our prayers. I know I recently wrote about a person telling me that God just had to do something and they were going to remind Him.
We have begun to act like spoiled children, throwing our tantrums and demanding our way. I don’t think He is approving of this type of behavior. Screaming and shouting our demands, is no way to behave as children of God. Boldly approaching the throne room does not mean kicking down the door and barking orders, like we are His boss. Yet this is the world we live in, but this is not how we are to behave.
To go boldly to the throne room means to go with confidence what ever you have to speak with God about, He will hear and listen to you. It does not always mean you will get the answer you want of that it will happen how or when you make your request known. It is His Will that is to be done, not ours.
I know one of my pet peeves is watching a parent being disrespected, being yelled at, cussed at or any other behavior of this manner, really T’s me off. There have been children I have known and gone to church with who have acted in this manner in front of me and one of the questions I ask them is, ‘Do you believe in the commandments of God?’ When their answer is yes, I ask them if their behavior is breaking the commandment on honoring your father and your mother? Then I ask them ‘ Does this command say to honor them only if they love you or if they are good, if they give you what you want? Is it a command on how they are to treat you or on how you are to treat them?’ The same goes to us grown ups, are we honoring God with our prayers, or are our prayers ones that are from spoiled brats?
We have such a loving Heavenly Father, Who gave us everything through His Son Jesus, our Lord and Savior. The One in whose name we are to pray. Is the gift of eternal life not enough, that we can make demands and not requests? If we will humble ourselves and turn to Him He will never reject us or turn us away.
Our Heavenly Father is always there. You will never get a busy signal, and He won’t put you on hold. He will always be patient with you. He always wants to hear from you. Remember though to speak to Him as your Father who loves you and be respectful to Him, and remember that love does not demand its’ own way.
Our prayers are requests, not a list of demands, or
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2“Honor your father and mother” (which is the first commandment with a promise), 3“that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on the earth.”…
Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and mother, so that your days may be long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
Deuteronomy 5:16 Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
Matthew 15:4 For God said: ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’
1 Corinthians 13 (TLB)
1 If I had the gift of being able to speak in other languages without learning them and could speak in every language there is in all of heaven and earth, but didn’t love others, I would only be making noise. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy and knew all about what is going to happen in the future, knew everything about everything, but didn’t love others, what good would it do? Even if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, I would still be worth nothing at all without love. 3 If I gave everything I have to poor people, and if I were burned alive for preaching the Gospel but didn’t love others, it would be of no value whatever.
4 Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, 5 never haughty or selfish or rude.Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. 6 It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. 7 If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him.
8 All the special gifts and powers from God will someday come to an end, but love goes on forever. Someday prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge—these gifts will disappear. 9 Now we know so little, even with our special gifts, and the preaching of those most gifted is still so poor. 10 But when we have been made perfect and complete, then the need for these inadequate special gifts will come to an end, and they will disappear.
11 It’s like this: when I was a child I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I became a man my thoughts grew far beyond those of my childhood, and now I have put away the childish things. 12 In the same way, we can see and understand only a little about God now, as if we were peering at his reflection in a poor mirror; but someday we are going to see him in his completeness, face-to-face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now.
13 There are three things that remain—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
God bless you and keep you safe. May His Light shine favorably upon you and your loved ones.
Please leave any prayer needs in the comments, I would be honored to pray for you, your ministry, your family or any needs you may have or know of for others.
