Moses next excuse

Beholding Him Ministries

Exodus 4.12

Exodus 4:10-12
Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”

11 The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord?12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”

Despite all that God has said and demonstrated, Moses is still full of excuses and asks for pardon. First, it was “Who Am I?” I am so unworthy. Now it is, “I am inadequate.” I’m not eloquent, I stutter, words come off my tongue in a slow way. Once again, the Lord meets Moses where he is and assures him, I will be with you. Remember…

Radical feminists oppose shutdown of underage sex-trafficking site

WINTERY KNIGHT

Women's March Women’s March

Wow! Read that tweet by the organizer’s of the Women’s March (which doesn’t even represent all women). A web site that facilitates “sex work” was shut down by the FBI, and the Women’s March is upset. What can it mean?

Well, here’s an article from The Federalist to explain. (H/T Sean M.)

Excerpt:

Last Friday, the FBI seized Backpage.com, a website well known for facilitating the sale of trafficked minors, mostly girls, for sex all over the United States. On Monday, seven top Backpage officials were arrested after being indicted on 93 counts, including money laundering and facilitating prostitution, 17 cases of which involve trafficking victims as young as 14. The Washington Post says Backpage earned an estimated $500 million in prostitution-related revenue since its launch in 2004.

The National Center on Missing and Exploited Children reports that 73 percent of all child sex trafficking cases it has handled involved Backpage.com. According to…

You Love Your Wife and You Know it

Victors Corner Blog

A poem on Spousal love

You love your wife and you know it.
And she knows too that you love her.
Your love languages are truly in sync.
All is going well and good for you both.
No slacking, keep the flag flying.
That is how it is supposed to be.

You love your wife and you know it.
But your wife doesn’t think you love her.
In many ways you try to prove that you love her.
But she never really gets to understand you much.
You are speaking a love language different from hers.
It is time you began to learn her own love language.

You don’t love your wife and you know it.
But somehow she thinks that you do love her.
All because you have been acting like you love her.
Is it not time you stopped deceiving her?
And begin to make your love acts true to the heart?
Loving…

Right Relations / The Friends found in the Bible List

This section of Right Relations is taking a lot of thought and work and though I am not ready to share what I have so far I did want to share this and hear from you.

Right Relations / The Friends list

Friends in the Bible list

When I think of some of the friendships in the Bible the one that comes immediately to my mind is the relationship between Jonathan and David. Jonathan was the son of King Saul, and David was a shepherd boy and the youngest of his father’s sons. So how they became friends is one God had chosen. So how many friendships can you think of found in the Bible? Here is a short list of ones that I can think of. I would love to hear from you about ones that are not listed here or of ones that inspire you.

  1. David and Jonathan / 1 Samuel 18-20
  2. Elijah and Elisha
  3. Ruth and Naomi
  4. Jesus and His disciples
  5. Paul and Timothy
  6. Job and his friends
  7. Jesus and Judas (not all friends are friends, some will betray you the second it profits them)

I know there are other friends found in the Bible and that we all have those friends who have had an impact on our relationship with Jesus. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Please share your friendship testimonies and your favorite friends in the Bible.

God bless.

Dried Up

emotionalpeace

Do you ever feel that you have been drained of every once of life and that you have nothing left? I get this way more often than I care to admit. I feel like a barren desert, and that I am beyond exhausted. Even words escape me and I can not even think of anything to say. I have given all that I have and done everything that I could and I have nothing left. How terrible you think. It may seem to be that way but it isn’t. How can be exhausted, drained and basically all dried up be good? I seem to be contradicting myself but I am not. Okay then I must be crazy, right? Well I do have a crazy side but craziness has nothing to do with why I feel that being dried up and empty is good. It means that there is nothing left…

The Power of Nudity | The Spirit of Lust

The Power of Nudity | The Spirit of Lust

Grace Over Pain

We went to do a bit of grocery shopping few days ago as a family when I saw something that has become somewhat normal in today’s society. I saw a lady in the supermarket with no underwear. You might be wondering how I knew. That is exactly my point. It was so obvious that there was no second guessing. As I watched her walking about with her friend, my heart ached. It ached because at her age, there is some girl somewhere looking up to her. That little cousin, niece, neighbour, friend’s daughter, is seeing her as an example of how to dress as an adult.

Of late I have been thinking about this topic a lot. The spirit of lust is eating deep into our society. Nudity has become the new way of celebrating beauty. Pregnancy announcements, engagement photos, wedding photos, normal outfits, everything to be honest seems to…

So You Had a Bad Day

Comfort & Challenge

baddayToday’s readings (click below to open in new tab/window):
Psalms 62; 145, Ecclesiastes 7:1-14, Galatians 4:12-20, Matthew 15:21-28

This quote from Marilyn Monroe is all over social media: “If you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.” It’s frequently used out of context when someone wants to deflect criticism of  their own bad behavior. We don’t like someone telling us our behavior is bad, or even unhealthy. We might think other people need to hear criticism (again, reference social media for scathing comments about the scandal du jour) but when it’s leveled against us we call it “judging.” Since Jesus told us “judge not” we toss that out as a conversation stopper.

Except we take that out of context too: Jesus didn’t render us incapable of moral evaluation, but reminded us to be merciful to others because we want God to be merciful to us. We are…

Hugging with Words

Nuggets of Gold

I have talked about friendship on here before many times, but its something that I believe can be talked about often, for it means so much! It is a priceless gift. I am reminded of a quote that talks about being glad that my friends don’t come with a price tag, for I would never be able to afford them! That is so very true. My friends and family mean the world to me!

One time I was looking for a short but meaningful video to send to some dear friends as just a way of saying, “Thanks for being my friend!”  They had uplifted my spirits once again and I wanted them to know it was appreciated. Sometimes I think we can get so used to what our family and friends do for us that we may not say “Thank you” as much as we should.

Are you looking…

“BECOMING A FRIEND OF GOD”

“BECOMING A FRIEND OF GOD”

Pastor Bob Mink

I don’t know when I have been more impacted by a book than I have been by Jack Deere’s memoir Even in Our Darkness: A Story of Beauty in a Broken Life. After the opening chapters, which are very short, it was difficult to put it down. I know reading his personal story touched me in a variety of ways, but I’m not sure how to describe my feelings. I’m surprised, sad, challenged, affirmed, convicted, and encouraged all at the same time.

I knew of John Deere through news stories and his books (that’s why I bought the book), but I had no idea of the ups and downs he has experienced. He calls this first book of his in almost 20 years “the unsanitized version of me becoming a friend of God.” That description compliments the book’s sub-title “A Story of Beauty in a Broken Life.”

What I…
