In the earliest day of failure and tragedy in the garden of Eden, Adam came out of hiding, knowing full well his own guilt and shame.

Adam confessed: “We ate from the fruit of the tree that was forbidden—but it was the woman who enticed me!” (see Genesis 3:12).

When God said to Eve, “What did you do?” she said: “It was the serpent that beguiled me!” (see 3:13).

In that brief time our first parents had learned the art of laying the blame on someone else. That is one of the great, betraying evidences of sin—and we have learned it straight from our first parents. We do not accept the guilt of our sin and iniquity. We blame someone else.

May 18 – Reassurance in the Midst of Trials

We can be certain of God’s love for us, no matter how unexpected or difficult any trial might be.

Reassuring words are vital as we strive to deal in a godly fashion with trials and sufferings in our Christian lives. In today’s verse, Peter opens with a pastoral term (“beloved”) that conveys tenderness, love, and concern for his audience. It reinforces in a single word the concepts of fervent love for one another and love that covers sin (1 Peter 4:8). Such love is a welcome reality to lean on whenever anyone is undergoing suffering or persecution.

Resist And Replace Negative Thoughts

If you have negative or fearful thoughts, it is time to have another thought. Too often, we fail to recognize, where the thoughts that go through our mind, originate. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy but Jesus comes to give us life, more abundantly.

Change your thoughts from negativity, to meditating on how Jesus has won the victory, for us, through his blood, death and resurrection. His victory is our victory. When fear, doubt and unbelief come knocking on your heart or your mind, will and emotions, recognize it and take all these thoughts captive, through Christ Jesus.

Humble yourself, under God’s authority. Tell negativity and fear to leave you. Praise Jesus, for his precious blood, that makes you right with God! Express thankfulness for his more abundant life.

Submit therefore to God and stand against Satan, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 ABPE)

Worship Yahweh And See Your Enemies Defeated

When you worship, honor and give me your whole heart, your enemies will come at you in one direction and flee in seven directions.  Worship, of me, brings the host of heaven, to destroy your enemies.  Your eyes and voice delight to worship and praise me, your King Eternal.  You will not tremble, at the threats from the enemy, but fall in reverential fear, before your King of kings. He has defeated and routed your enemies.

Trust and believe in me, with your whole heart.  Rejoice! I fight your battles, as you worship me in Spirit and Truth.

O Yahweh, my God, I will give you thanks with my whole heart (mind, will and emotions)!
I will honor (esteem, respect, and obey) your name continually! (Psalm 86:12)

A Rose From My Mother

I took this picture after the memorial for my mother in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. She had planted this rose bush in her yard. After the service this beautiful rose stood out against the desert that surrounded it. At that time my heart was broken and my grief was overwhelming. I saw only a rose and knew that she had planted. Today this picture spoke to me. Her life had many harsh times and she survived and even bloomed.

She was an amazing woman and she made sacrifices that cost her more than I had ever known for most of her life so that I could live and still be here today. Now as I look at this rose I see more than a rose. I am learning a lesson. Life can be harsh and cruel for many of us. Yet no matter where you are or what cruelty may surround you, love and life can still prevail.

I still miss my mom and always will but my thoughts of her bring me joy and she is still in my heart. She was a loving mother and a beautiful and hard working lady.

The Four Candles

Hold on to hope

The Four Candles burned slowly.
Their ambiance was so soft you could hear them speak…
The first candle said, “I Am Peace, but these days, nobody wants to keep me lit.”
Then Peace’s flame slowly diminished and went out completely.

The second candle said, “I Am Faith, but these days, I am no longer indispensable.”
Then Faith’s flame slowly diminished and went out completely.
Sadly the third candle spoke, “I Am Love and I haven’t the strength to stay lit any longer.”
“People put me aside and don’t understand my importance.

They even forget to love those who are nearest to them.”
And waiting no longer, Love went out completely.

Suddenly…
A child entered the room and saw the three candles no longer burning.
The child began to cry,
“Why are you not burning?  You are supposed to stay lit until the end.”
Then the Fourth Candle spoke gently…

A STRAWBERRY AND ITS CORE

We were in Florida recently during the Strawberry Festival.  We were not intending to go during a festival time, rather we were visiting family.  But strawberries were everywhere!

A strawberry — sweetness in one small package!

According to Wikipedia, the garden strawberry is a hybrid species of the genus Fragaria.  It is cultivated worldwide for its fruit.  The fruit, which scientifically speaking is not a botanical berry but an “aggregate accessory fruit”, is known and loved for its characteristic aroma, bright red color, juicy texture and sweetness.  The article continues to say that the strawberry is consumed in large quantities, either fresh or in such prepared foods such as preserves, fruit juice, pies, ice creams, milkshakes and chocolates. 

All this is true, but the little berry is so much more than a typewritten description presents.  It quite simply is … yummy!
