Love and Time

calenders and clocks

Love and Time

We measure times with seconds, which turn into minutes.

Then minutes turn into hours.

Hours turn into days.

Days turn into weeks.

Weeks turn into months.

Months turn into years.

We keep track of time using clocks and calendars.

Yet love does not know time.

It does not have a clock or calendar to tell it what it is.

It is not a schedule to keep or an appointment to make.

Love cannot be measured by time.

It has no birth date or anniversary.

Love is Love

It has been around since before creation.

It was , it is and it will always be.

Even in a world filled with hate,

There is still love.

Love cannot be weighed,

You cannot measure love.

You cannot truly live without love.

It is the air we breathe, and the blood that flows through us.

Love is Jesus

Love forgives what cannot be forgiven.

Love gives hope.

Love restores what you have lost or what has been stolen.

Love gives and wants nothing in return.

Love is merciful and keeps no records of wrongs.

Love gives life and healing.

You may exist without love,

But that is not the same as being alive.

We have been loved since the beginning,

Isn’t it time we begin living to love?

Jesus is love.

He has given us everything we need.

He gave us His life,

So we can live,

Live in peace and live in love.

What do you say when you don’t know what to say

What do you say when you have no idea of what to say? There are those times when words even when spoken to bring comfort can cause more pain. Your words were kind and compassionate but they still hurt, not because of you, or because the person you are speaking to is too sensitive. It is just that what they are going through is so painful words are useless. Sometimes silence brings more comfort than words. Silent tears, and quiet hugs without a spoken word can at times bring more comfort than all the perfectly spoken words. Your presence can be all they need. Quietly handing them a tissue, or just a glass of water or even a sandwich without being asked can let them know you are there for them. Pray for them hold their hand, and just sit quietly by their side. If they speak just listen and do not interrupt them. Let them be and love them as they are. When they are ready because you have been there, they will open up and come to you. Till then all they need is you.

Sleep the elusive dream continues, September 22, 2015

Yet another sleepless night. Instead of fighting for sleep I chose to spend the night hour with my Heavenly Father. I spent part of the night reading, another part praying and praising Him and another part cleaning and anointing my home. My mood today is surprisingly good considering the fact that I did not even sleep an hour this last night. This I take as a gift from God, especially since I am not a morning person to begin with add a lack of sleep my mood is not usually so joyful. I would also like to report since the other night when I wrote asking other insomniacs to join me in prayer I have had two people contact me and said they too would be praying and will pray with me during the night if we are awake together. I am glad for this because it is turning the sleepless night into a blessing. The more who join us in prayer the more people we can pray for, and together we can also praise our God and praise Jesus our Redeemer, our Healer, our Savior, our Lord. Sleepless nights are becoming less of a burden, and more joyful. I still look forward to peaceful sleep, but taking advantage of every waking moment seeking God and petitioning Him for the needs of others.

September 21, 2015

I did not know what to title this so it just gets a date.

A recent prayer request had me searching the internet for scriptures and prayers for husbands whose wife had left them. To my amazement I did not find one page that met what I was looking for. There were pages on wives whose husbands had left them for another woman. There were prayers for children of divorce. Yet I could not find a prayer page or scripture page for husbands who were left behind. Why is it that the world acknowledges husbands leaving but the husband who has been left is being neglected?

Unfortunately women and children are not the only ones who are abused and neglected. Men who are abused go unreported every day. Women leave their husbands and children. Yet there is no support for these men.

I have known men who have ben abused, and were left to raise their children and put their lives back together after their wives left them to do whatever they pleased. It is happening more and more every day. So what can be done for these men and their children?

The only thing I can think of is to bring awareness to this problem. I can pray but they need more than prayer. Just because they are a man does not mean that they do not get hurt or do not suffer. They need help just like anyone else. They struggle just like anyone else. God loves them as He does all of us. Let us keep these men in prayer and speak words of encouragement to them. Remind them that they are important and loved, and that they are not alone. They probably won’t broadcast their hurt, and more than likely suffer in silence. This does not mean they do not need help or do not want to receive a kind word or action.

We all need God’s help, and God uses His body to reach the lost and hurting. We are His body. Let us be used to do His work.

Sleep the elusive dream continued “A call to prayer”

How many of you find it difficult to find sleep at the end of the day? Insomnia as it is medically labeled is something more people than we realize suffer with. After not sleeping last night and my ramblings I posted during the night hours, I have a thought I would like to share. I know that you do not know me and I do not know you, but if you are like me and are awake while the rest of the world sleeps, why don’t we start praying together. We can pray for each other. We can pray for loved ones. We can pray for our leaders and for the leaders around the world. We can pray for blessings, for peace, and for healing. We can pray together for anything and for anyone.

Let us use this time in the night to good and not complain about the lack of sleep but pray together that God’s will be done. If Christ is in you as He is in me we are not strangers but are one with God who created us. With as many of us who live with the lack of sleep come together sharing each others burdens can you imagine what God can do with our prayers? Prayer is a gift and a weapon. Let us use it for good. If you will join me in this idea please post a comment. You can leave a request for prayer and I will pray with you for that need or the person who needs prayer. What ever prayer is needed there will be no judgment only loving prayers. If you know others who have trouble sleeping ask them if they will join in prayer. Let us instead of being insomniacs become warriors in the night. I hope and pray to take back from the enemy what He has stolen from us be turned into victory for Jesus Christ. Let us take back our nights. Let us pray! Please join me in prayer.

James 5:15-17 The Prayer of Faith
15and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. 16Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.…

Matthew 18:18-20 18“Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. 19“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20“For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

Sleep the elusive dream

Another sleepless night. I could say I dream of sleep but to dream doesn’t one need to sleep? I lack the understanding of why my mind and body will not shut down. I have tried everything and still nothing brings the rest I can only find in sleep. I pray, I read, and I even find a mindless TV show to zone out with. Yet I have had no success.

I sometimes wonder if this is training for my time in Heaven where time has no clock or calendar. Yet here on Earth sleep is a necessity. This bodies we live in need time to rest. Yet here I sit typing away, not really saying anything.

As tired as I may be, I try to find peace in the quiet dark of night. The good thing is there are no distractions, and my thoughts can focus on Jesus and His Word. During the day there are so many things to do and so many demands, it is easy to lose that focus. So I am thankful that even though I may not be sleeping, and I may live alone and not have anyone I can call at this hour, but I am not alone Jesus is here with me. He is watching my fingers type these words. So as I ramble He is with me. Sleep or no sleep, He is with me. He is my peace.

So to you who are sleeping I pray your sleep is peaceful. For those of you who are like me I pray Jesus is your companion and you are enjoying your alone time with Him.

Good night.

Proverbs 12:19

Proverbs 12:19

19 Truthful lips endure forever,

but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.

How many lies have you told in your life?

How many lies have you heard?

How many lies have been spoken about you?

Satan is the father of lies. He is the deceiver.

There are lies that go unnoticed. These are the lies we tell ourselves. We do not consider them lies because we do not share them with others. They are just things we tell ourselves. They can be about anything, big or small. We deceive ourselves so often, yet we wonder how we can be deceived and lied to. Scripture tells us that even the elect will be deceived.

(a short list of scriptures on being deceived)

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Matt 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Matt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Mark 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
Luke 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
2Tim 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Lies and deception are a daily occurrence in this fallen world. Jesus is the Truth, the Life, and the Way! Thank God we can always believe and trust in our Lord. His Word is true and instructs us how to live true to Him if we follow His Word. His Word is how we combat the lies of this world. This includes both the lies the world tells us and the lies we tell ourselves. Jesus will never lie to you or me. Believe in Him and trust His Word.

Galatians 6:9

Galatians 6:9 (ESV)  And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

How easy is it to give up in doing good in this world we live in. You see people doing good and still being persecuted. Then we see people who are guilty of doing wrong going unpunished. People who work the hardest seem to receive the least. There are those who put their life at risk to protect those who hate them. So why do bother? By doing good in spite of these few examples, we are living in love. If God waited for us to all be good to love us, He never would have sent Jesus to die for us. It was because He loved us in spite of our sinful ways that Jesus came into this world. A world that rejected, ridiculed, hated, persecuted, beat Him. Spat on Him, and finally crucified Him. What was His response? It was love. He did not fight back, but He asked His Father to forgive us. How great is His love. He could have given up on us, but He did not. He loved us, and gave His life to show us this love. He does not give up on you or me. So we should not stop doing good for any reason. The world may not accept our good work. We will face rejection or neglect. It may seem like no matter how much good we do that it does not matter, but it matters to the One who sees into the depths of our hearts, and His reward is eternal. Our good work is not out of demand but out of love we have for Him. This is good. So do good without worry of what the world will do but because of what has already been done for you.

Never give up and never surrender

Baking Bread

Sabbath BreadToday is my first attempt at making bread. I have made corn bread and banana bread but never just made bread before. I love to cook but baking was something I did on occasion but not something I actually enjoyed.

I decided to try making Sabbath bread other wise called Challah. Tonight is the close of the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah. I am not Jewish but I am learning about their holidays and traditions because as a Christian I want to acknowledge the things Jesus participated in. Of course there is Abraham, Isaac,  Moses, Joseph, and David just to name a few of the men in the Bible who were Jews, and belonged to God. Years back I had once heard while I was in a church service that it was the Jews that crucified Jesus. I also understand that there are many people who are even Christians who do not like Jews because they did not accept Jesus as the Son of God. Well God knew that Jesus would not be received by His own. It was for the sin of all man (this includes us women too) that Jesus came to this fallen world and gave Himself to be crucified to pay the price for all of our sins. I also understand that if they had received Him as their Messiah at that time we would not have had the opportunity to be adopted into God’s family. I am thankful that Jesus paid the price to save and redeem me. He over came the grave and rose on the third day so that we can all live free from sin. So I may not be following all the customs of this holiday, but while this bread is baking in my oven I am reminded that Jesus is the Risen Savior and that He loves us all so very much. I am thankful that through His blood I am adopted into His family, and that He has made me new.

It is amazing that baking bread made me think of these things, and it makes the home smell so good.

2 Corinthians 5:17

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Once you have repented and received Jesus as your Savior, His blood washes you clean and He makes you a new creation. Who you were and what you did are in the past and are no longer.

The enemy will use family and friends to remind you of your past, and all the things you had done if they do not have Jesus as their Lord, but Jesus does not look at your past. He looks at you with loving eyes and sees the person you are today.

You were a lump of clay that in His hands has been formed into a fine piece of pottery. You are His vessel and He fills you with His Spirit with peace love and joy. He gives you hope when the world tells you that all is hopeless. You were a stone just lying on the ground that people used to trip over or throw to break things. Then He picked you up and placed you on His foundation and you became a part of His temple. You are precious and loved more than you ever know. Whoever you were before and whatever you may have done is gone from His sight and what He sees when He looks at you is His beautiful and amazing creation. Live in the newness of who He has made you to be and not in the past. Yesterday is gone. Today you are alive and the possibilities of tomorrow are endless.
